Employers want to hire job applicants with work experience. But it is often difficult for students to gain meaningful workplace experience while attending college. However, there are a variety of work-based learning experiences students can engage in to build their job skills, grow their networks and power-up their resumes.
Internships, informational interviews, volunteer experiences and part-time jobs can provide students an opportunity to use and grow their workplace skills. While these experiences can be challenging to find, Professional Associations are one of the best ways students can make connections and access these work experience opportunities.
Encourage your students to take their classroom learning to work. Introduce them to work-based learning opportunities and start with professional organizations.
